Amanda Farris, originally from Anchorage, Alaska, is a military wife with two children, a 7-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. She has been a military wife for 8 years, but is no stranger to military life, as her father is also retired army.
She works full time as the administrative assistant for MWR’s Outdoor Recreation. Her schedule is VERY busy – with dance class for both her daughter and herself, working, managing two children and a home when her husband is away.
She started saving money when her husband deployed the 2nd time, they agreed to have a certain amount in savings – so she had to find deals and shop frugally, they made that goal and she kept her thrifty deals and clearance shopping. A little over a year ago, they decided they weren’t putting enough money into savings and decided to do another overhaul – she decided if she wanted to still do the fun shopping and hitting the clearance racks, that she had to figure out another way.
COUPONING! She started out small and slowly got into the stockpiling and purchasing coupons that were too good of a deal to pass up. She likes to save money wherever she can – she makes her own cleaning supplies because it’s MUCH cheaper and earth friendly. She buys refurbished appliances if at all possible – or at outlet stores.
